[About the Speaker]
Professor Hsiao is currently Professor of Economics at University of Southern California and also a Co-Editor of Journal of Econometrics. Professor Hsiao is well known for his research in Panel Data, whose book, Analysis of Panel Data, has gained tremendous positive reviews among the academia.
His research articles have been published in several prestigious journals, such as Journal of Econometrics and Journal of Business and Economic Statistics. Professor Hsiao is Fellow of Econometric Society, Fellow of Academia Sinica and Fellow of Journal of Econometrics.
[Lecture Overview]
The lecture will cover two topics, review of cross-sectional approach for program evaluation and panel data approach for program evaluation and an application of the effects of CEPA on Hong Kong economy. The first session will review some cross-sectional methodology and the second session will illustrate how panel data can simplify the analysis and be applied to evaluate the effects of CEPA on Hong Kong economy.
